Event Reconstruction Cases



Sophisticated event reconstructions are best left to biomechanical engineers and super specialists, but many can be prepared accurately and for less cost by JGPI. We have decades’ experience reconstructing events as static or animated demonstratives.



Vehicular Liability



Determining liability for a fatal fire caused by a one-car accident depended on whether metal bollards installed by the utility could have protected a gas main from a frontal impact.

JGIP helped the defense to visually demonstrate how the vehicle slammed into a wall and impacted the main at an acute angle from behind, which was unprotectible.

The jury believed the defense.​



Premises Liability



Plaintiff professional window washer improperly used a collapsible water-fed pole on a third-story rooftop just below a 12kV electrical conductor. After he was severely injured he blamed the utility for maintaining a dangerous condition near "an open body of water" (a spa placed illegally on the roof). JGPI and Legal Arts created this 3D-environment and coordinated a motion capture simulation for the biomechanical engineering expert’s testimony demonstrating that Plaintiff’s version of the event was both incorrect and negligent.

​After three hours’ deliberation, the jury delivered a defense verdict.

Contractor Liability



Plaintiff construction worker, on a scaffold purportedly tagged inspected and safe, fell 30 feet to the ground after an unsecured plank came loose. Plaintiff commissioned a to-scale scene reconstruction and animated mechanisms of failure and injury for a video settlement brochure.

The case settled for well into seven-figures.​​



Homicide



Defendant was one of two brothers accused of stabbing a fellow party-goer to death. His defense claimed there was only one attacker (the other brother). A defense forensic pathologist used several of these 3D-renderings to illustrate his testimony that a single individual could have easily inflicted each wound.
